Hi! My name is Wendy Shiverdaker and I am so excited to share my love of fashion with you through my blog.
My first "fashion memory" goes back to when I was about 6 years old. My mom had taken me shopping to get a new Easter outfit. I've never been fond of overdone lace or ruffled dresses. I've always preferred to wear things a little more tailored, so the Easter outfit was no exception. It was an adorable plaid skort with an eggplant turtleneck sweater. I wore knee socks with polished brown loafers-- it was fantastic! I wanted to wear it so badly, but my mom told me that I'd have to wait. I couldn't wait, so I snuck out of the house with it on to go play with my friends in the neighborhood. If I remember correctly, I was grounded for the rest of the day. But you know what? It was completely worth it.
I realized very early in my life that if I walked out of my house looking good, then chances were that I would be feeling good too. When I feel good, I am prone to share that energy everywhere I go and with everyone I meet. I believe that looking good and feeling good is the beginning of accomplishing your goals.
I'm huge fan of the TV show "What Not to Wear." I wish that more people had the opportunity to benefit from that incredible experience. What happens on that show is life altering. It really isn't just about what you're wearing or what's hanging in your closet. I can tell you that I have witnessed first hand the transformation of a woman's self-esteem when she stands in front of a mirror and sees all that is beautiful and good instead of the things she would like to change about herself. I have spent many hours in fitting rooms with wonderful women and that moment never gets old for me. It is a real privilege to be a part of those experiences.
It's unrealistic for most of us to come up with an extra $5,000 to completely redo our wardrobes, and we don't have to. It's my goal to educate people on how to take what they already have hanging in their closets and use that as a starting point to achieve a wardrobe that's just right for them. Over the years, I have learned how to shop at all kinds of stores and with all kinds of budgets. I believe I can teach people how to shop more effectively and, often times, while spending less money.
I hope you will subscribe to this feed so that I can share tips and trends that can help you enhance your own personal style.
If you'd prefer some one-on-one assistance, I'd be happy to work with you with your existing wardrobe or help you shop for a specific event. You can reach me at [email protected].
Here's to looking and feeling fabulous!
